Querent — Privacy Policy
Querent is a single-player and multiplayer card game. This page describes what data the game and its multiplayer servers process. The policy is written in plain language; if anything is unclear, write to the contact address at the bottom of this page.
Summary
- The game stores your settings, statistics, and achievements locally on your device only.
- If you use the optional online multiplayer mode, your IP address and the display name you typed are processed in transit to connect you to your opponent. Neither is retained after the match ends.
- No analytics, advertising, location, contact, microphone, camera, or device-identifier collection.
- No accounts, no logins, no profiles.
Data stored on your device
The game stores a small settings file on your device containing: your difficulty preference, your last-used display name, volume + accessibility toggles, lifetime win/loss/tie counts, current streak, and unlocked achievements. This file never leaves your device. Uninstalling the game removes it.
Data processed for online multiplayer
When you tap Online and enter a room code, the game opens a WebSocket connection to a multiplayer relay server hosted on Cloudflare Workers. The server processes:
- Your IP address, used only to apply a per-IP rate limit on room-join attempts (defense against connection-flood abuse). The IP is not logged, persisted, or shared. Cloudflare retains connection metadata according to its own data-handling practices, linked above.
- The room code you typed, used only to route you to the same match as your opponent.
- The display name you typed, broadcast to the other player in the room so they can see who they are playing against. Names are capped at 20 characters and stripped of control characters. They are not stored on the server after the match ends.
- The cards each side picks each turn, relayed to both players so the match stays in sync. Per-match state is held in memory for the duration of the match and discarded when both players leave.
What we do NOT collect
- No analytics or telemetry. The game makes no outgoing network requests during single-player matches.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID, etc.).
- No location, contacts, microphone, camera, photo library, or other system permissions.
- No user accounts, social logins, or cross-device sync.
- No third-party SDKs beyond the Cloudflare relay described above.
Children
Querent is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone — child or adult — beyond what is described above for matchmaking.
Data retention
On-device data persists until you uninstall the game or clear app storage. Multiplayer connection data is ephemeral: room state lives only in memory while the room is active, and the relay server does not keep player-level records.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change. There is no email list to notify because we do not collect email addresses.
